YOUR NEW PROPERTY - A STEP by STEP GUIDE.
Thank you for deciding to rent your accommodation through White Letting. We hope you find the stay in your new home both pleasant and trouble free. Remember, we are always here to help and listen to any problems you may have.

We hope these notes help you as you settle into your new home. It is best if you read them in conjunction with your tenancy agreement.

CONTACTS.

  • If you have any problems, contact White Letting during office hours (9:00am – 5:00pm) on 01475 806043.
  • All correspondence should be sent to our head office at Clarence House, 1 Haig Street, Greenock PA15 1JG.
  • If you have any problems outside our office hours with your gas, water or electricity, contact our emergency number on 07904675807 / 07411504941
  • If you have any problems outside our office hours gaining access to your property, please contact 07904675807 / 07411504941. However, there will be a charge if the problem is caused by yourself or your friends.

RENT.

  • Please ensure you have sufficient funds in your account on the first day of each month so that you can meet your rental obligations.
  • If you have a problem with your rent please contact us immediately so that other arrangements can be made.
  • If you change banks, please remember to set up a new standing order. New forms are available from our office.
  • If a cheque bounces, a charge is normally made (please refer to your tenancy agreement).

TENANCY AGREEMENT.

  • If more than one person has signed the agreement, please remember that you are all liable for the total rent. This means that if one person does not pay their ‘share’ of the rent, then others must pay their portion.
  • If you wish to decorate any part of the property, please write to us at the office.
  • Under normal tenancy agreements, furniture should not be removed from a property.
  • Please do not use ‘Blu-Tak’ or other such fixings around the home. (Please refer to your tenancy agreement.)
  • At the end of the fixed period, your tenancy does not end. It continues until either you or your landlord provides written notice. The period of notice must be at least two months and given on the 1st day of a month (the rent due date). You are unable to give notice to move out before the end of the fixed period. (Please refer to your tenancy agreement).

MOVING IN.

  • When moving into your new home, please take relevant meter readings immediately. These may include gas, water and electricity.
  • Contact all the utilities and put your name(s) on the bills. These utilities usually include services for gas, water, electricity, telephone, council tax and television.

Please notify White Letting if you change your gas or electricity supplier.
Once your telephone is connected, please let us have your number and advise us of any change during your tenancy.

MOVING OUT.

  • When moving out, take meter readings again and contact the relevant utilities.
  • You may like to use Royal Mail's postal redirection service - telephone 08457 740 740 for more information.
  • Please make sure you leave the property the way you found it – clean and tidy.
  • Defrost the fridge / freezer a few days before moving out and mop up any water that leaks onto the floor.
  • Make sure all the property’s contents are present and intact.
  • Hand your keys into White Letting on the correct day. Do not leave keys in the property. If you post keys through our door, please place them in a sealed envelope with your name. If you post keys, please use a strong padded envelope. Do not enclose the address of the property in case the envelope is lost.
  • If White Letting receives your keys late, then your landlord may decide to charge you rent on the whole property, for the extra period.

RETURN of DEPOSIT.

  • Before your deposit is returned, you will be required to prove that you have met all your contractual obligations. This means that you will need to produce receipted final bills for each utility. All keys must also have been returned to White Letting.
  • Once you have fulfilled all your tenancy obligations, White Letting will post your deposit to you within 28 days. (Please refer to your tenancy agreement.) So please let White Letting know your forwarding address
